He raises his voice: Luminous peace that the angels of heaven brought to the people of earth in glorious voices of praise, the believing Church has been enriched by it, and her children have attained through it luminous eyes of the mind. The peace which was sent through the angel Gabriel to the holy Virgin Mary, the Theotokos, and he said to her: “Peace be with you, the Lord is with you, and from you dawned the savior of the children of Adam, the peace reconciling those above and those below.” And the angels went down proclaiming it on earth and (as) they said: “Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace and good hope to men!” The peace filled with life that the Lord gave to his disciples in the holy upper room of Zion and he said to them: “Peace be with you; my peace I give to you; the peace of the Father who sent me I leave among you.”
Indeed, our Lord, may that holy peace that was with them and among them be with us and among us all the days of our lives. Priest: Glory to the Father, who has sanctified. Glory to the Son, who has forgiven. Glory to the Holy Spirit who has descended and is the beginning, perfection, and seal of all that was and is in heaven and on earth, who was moved in his mercies, descended in his compassion, came down and sanctified our offering, and sealed the Church and her children in the great power of the Son’s cross. May he rest his right hand of lovingkindness on this holy place and on this village and all their faithful inhabitants. May he, Lord God, avert, in his lovingkindness, famine, locusts, war, and devastation, vermin, nymphs, pestilence, and every deadly plague of wrath. May he grant it this place his tranquility and peace all the days that remain in the world. There is a tremendous richness within this translation that helps us all to better see the Trinity and our humility before God. Thank you Vincent Michael for your exquisite translation. It illuminates yet another facet of the beautiful diamond of our faithful Divine Liturgy. Deacon Bob Calabrese, St Josephs Atlanta
