A Maronite Giant

  • Wrote over 400 books in Arabic: translations and commentaries on the Old and New Testaments, Syriac Church Fathers, Greek Church Fathers, and Latin Church Fathers;
  • Published over 1000 articles in Arabic and French;
  • Taped over 1000 radio shows in Arabic;
  • And taped over 500 TV shows in Arabic.

He dedicated his entire life to Jesus Christ who instructed him to hold on to his hand, but he responded that he was afraid to do so because he might let go. So, he asked Jesus to hold his hand. Jesus did not only hold his hand but took control of the entire person. He entered the seminary at the age of 12 and never looked back and never wavered. The smile of this faithful and true priest emanated Christ’s love to everyone who encountered him. The most important thing he did in his life was loving people unconditionally. I know that first hand because he loved me, his nephew, despite all my shortcomings and failures, which he utterly ignored; he dwelt on my strengths and successes and made me reach for the skies.

He was a good and faithful servant. Blessed are the dead who die in the Lord, for they inherit the kingdom of God.

Père Paul, I will once more see your smile in heaven.

  1. Thank you Lord for the gift of Pere Paul. We have been blessed by his life. Grant him rest we beseech thee.

  2. God grant Pere Feghali an abundant return for his fruitful scholarship and ministry, I heard another family member of his, from my parish, mention how Pere Feghali never spent a lot of time at social events, and when asked why he had to go and what he had to do, he said, ‘write, and there’s so little time.’
    What a lesson from one like the Prophet Jeremiah who from his earliest youth has served the LORD in joy
