| With the sweet fragrance of incense and the pleasant aroma of Myron, may [this] commemoration be for the faithful departed, | ܥܰܠ ܥܶܛܪܳܐ ܕܒܶܣ̈ܡܶܐ ܛܳܒ̈ܶܐ ܘܪܺܝܚܶܗ ܕܡܘܽܪܘܽܢ ܒܰܣܺܝܡܳܐ ܢܶܗܘܶܐ ܡܳܪܰܢ ܕܘܽܟܪܳܢܳܐ ܠܥܰܢܺܝ̈ܕܶܐ ܡܗܰܝ̈ܡܢܶܐ܀ |

Each verse should have an intercalating psalm verse (cf J. Amar, Syriac Strophic Poetry in To Train His Soul on Books) besides those noted here, and they are consistent across Syriac hymnody. The intercalated versicles are psalm verses followed by the doxology, and then the antepenultimate is the Marian versicle, the penultimate is the martyrs’ versicle and the last for the faithful departed, which thematically correspond to the hymn verses.
The second versicle is Ps. 116:1b-2 (ܫܒܚܝܗܝ ܟܠܗܝܢ ܘܫܪܟܐ), the third versicle is the doxology (ܫܘ̄ ܠܐܒܐ ܘܫܪܟܐ), the fourth verse is the continuation of the doxology, the εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας τῶν αἰώνων (ܡܢ ܥܠܡ ܠܥܠܡ ܥܠܡܝܢ ܐܡܝܢ), and the sixth verse is the martyrs’ versicle (ܨܠܘܬܗܘܢ ܕܣܗ̈ܕܐ ܬܥܕܪܝ ܠܢ ܘܠܝ ܡܪܝ ܫܘܒܚܐ).
