Praise the Lord, all you nations. |
With the sweet fragrance of incense and the pleasant aroma of Myron, may [this] commemoration be for the faithful departed, | ܥܰܠ ܥܶܛܪܳܐ ܕܒܶܣ̈ܡܶܐ ܛܳܒ̈ܶܐ ܘܪܺܝܚܶܗ ܕܡܘܽܪܘܽܢ ܒܰܣܺܝܡܳܐ ܢܶܗܘܶܐ ܡܳܪܰܢ ܕܘܽܟܪܳܢܳܐ ܠܥܰܢܺܝ̈ܕܶܐ ܡܗܰܝ̈ܡܢܶܐ܀ |
who ate your holy body in faith, drank your innocent blood and slept in your hope.
The just slept in faith in the hope of the resurrection, and are awaiting Christ to come and to give them their reward.
What eye has not seen, And ear of flesh has not heard, And has not entered the human heart (Is 6:3; 1 Cor 2:9) is the good thing they deserve.
We heard the Son saying, “At the moment when the dead hear the living voice of God, they will rise incorrupt” (Jn 5:25, 28): | ܫܡܰܥܢܳܝܗ̱ܝ ܠܰܒܪܳܐ ܟܰܕ ܐܳܡܰܪ ܕܰܒܫܳܥܬܳܐ ܕܫܳܡܥܺܝܢ ܡܺܝ̈ܬܶܐ ܩܳܠܶܗ ܚܰܝܳܐ ܕܰܐܠܳܗܳܐ ܩܳܝܡܺܝܢ ܕܠܳܐ ܚܒܳܠܳܐ܀ |
those who did good things will be raised up to the new life, but those who did evil things will be raised up to judgment.
Isaac buried Abraham, crying and grieving him, for the resurrection was [still] concealed, and no one knew about it.
God revealed to Moses, spoke to him, and said, “The righteous and the just are alive in God.” |
May the prayer of the Blessed Virgin be for us a wall of protection. Bless, my lord. | .
Who has seen the new ship bearing a valuable treasure sailing in a stormy sea, and abounding in treasure?
Mary is that ship, and Christ the treasure within her. She walked in the world and gave mortals life.
Blessed ones, you were taken to be judged, but you perplexed the judges, cast down Satan, and defeated the evil one.
Like gold from a crucible, you came out from your afflictions. And behold, your commemoration is celebrated in heaven and on earth.
May the faithful departed rest in peace. Glory to you, Lord. Bless, my lord. | .
The prophets and apostles who proclaimed the truth in the world, along with the holy martyrs who triumphed and were crowned, are [now] commemorated.
The Church with her children, and Mary, the Mother of God, along with all the departed who slept in your hope, are [now] commemorated.
