Simeon said, “My Lord and my God [Lk 2, 22-38], my hope in You has been fulfilled. You are the redeemer of Your people [Israel] and also the light of all [other] peoples.
[Since] I have [now] carried [You,] Your Majesty, and experienced Your gentle light, dismiss my old age from [this] life so that I may go and rest in Your hope.”
