|Syriac Melody: ܫܘܽܒܚܳܐ ܠܗܰܘ ܪܳܥܝܳܐ|
|The gates of paradise are opened through fasting, and the ones who fast enter and inherit the kingdom.||ܒܨܰܘܡܳܐ ܕܡܶܬܦܰܬܚܺܝܢ ܆ ܬܰܪ̈ܥܶܐ ܕܦܰܪܕܰܝܣܳܐ ܆ ܘܥܳܐܠܺܝܢ ܨܰܝܳܡ̈ܶܐ ܆ ܘܝܳܪܬܺܝܢ ܡܰܠܟܘܽܬܳܐ ܀|
|The bridal chamber [that is, the heavenly resting place] and kingdom are reserved for the ones who fast, and those in the truth fast sincerely.||ܓܢܘܽܢܳܐ ܘܡܰܠܟܘܽܬܳܐ ܆ ܢܛܺܝܪ̈ܺܝܢ ܠܨܰܝܳܡ̈ܶܐ ܆ ܘܰܐܝܠܶܝܢ ܕܒܰܫܪܳܪܳܐ ܆ ܨܳܝܡܺܝܢ ܕܰܟܝܳܐܝܺܬ ܀|
|Our Savior, may our fast be pleasing to You, and our prayer an acceptable offering.||ܨܰܘܡܰܢ ܦܳܪܘܽܩܰܢ ܆ ܢܶܗܘܶܐ ܠܰܢܝܳܚܳܟ ܆ ܘܰܨܠܘܽܬܰܢ ܬܶܗܘܶܐ ܆ ܩܘܽܪܒܳܢܳܐ ܡܩܰܒܠܳܐ ܀|
